Joining 21 Not Out
How old must I be to join 21 Not Out?
You must be aged between 16 and 21 years old. You can be part of the group until the day you turn 22 years old.
What happens when I turn 22 years old?
We take great pride in celebrating all birthdays here at 21 Not Out, but especially 22nd Birthdays! Reaching that day means that we have officially reached our goal of supporting you in and out of cricket from age 16 to 21!
We are currently still forming ideas for our next group: 21 and Beyond. We would love to hear from you on what that should look like! We hope to create a cricket community that you can be a part of for as long as you wish. Like 21 Not Out, that will be a Member led group, hopefully hosting events & an Online Community. Let us know what you think!
What is the minimum commitment required to join 21 Not Out?
There is no minimum commitment! Once you have been added to our Online Community, it is up to you whether you attend all or none of our events.
Whether you are at university, focussing on exams or busy with other priorities, my best advice would be to join the group, there is really no pressure to devote lots of time to the group!
What if I haven’t really played much cricket recently or I have never played at all?
The group is open to everyone, no experience required! Whether you just like to watch the game, spend time at your local club or have just started your cricket journey, everyone is welcome!
If you feel nervous about our cricket events, you may be interested in our non-cricket social events, which we run plenty of! Think campfires, pub crawls, ten pin bowling nights, escape rooms and anything in between. Remember, our group is Member led, so if you have an idea for an event, we can make it happen together!
How much does it cost to join 21 Not Out?
It is completely free to join 21 Not Out and be part of our community. Most of our events are also free to attend, and if there is an event that is not (for example, if we play ten pin bowling then you may pay for your own participation), then that will be made clear beforehand.
How do I join 21 Not Out?
You can sign up here on our website, or if you have any questions you would like to ask before signing up, email [email protected] or send us a message on Instagram.
If I am under 18, do I need my parent or guardian’s permission to join 21 Not Out?
Yes, once you have registered, your parent or guardian will need to read our Safeguarding Policy and fill in a consent form. It is short and easy to do, and it is there to keep everyone safe.
Events
What kind of events do 21 Not Out run?
We run a huge range of events, focussing on offering events involving cricket, as well as those away from the game. Our group is Member led, so our events are planned and run by our Members. This means that if you have an idea for an event, together, we can make it happen.
Our Cricket Events include:
- Open Nets
- Coaching Masterclasses
- T20 Game Days
- Street Cricket
- Watching County and International Cricket
Our Non-Cricket Events Include:
- Ten-Pin Bowling
- Escape Rooms
- Pub Crawls
- Formal Dinners
- Networking Events
- Watching other Sports throughout Essex
How do I hear about all of the Events at 21 Not Out?
Once you are a Member, the best way to keep up to date with the details of planned events is through the WhatsApp Community Announcements. We also advertise many of our events on Instagram and on the home page of this website.
If you would like to be involved with planning events, the main chat, or the Ideas Pitch is the place to be! We also encourage members to create smaller groups within the Community in order to make planning specific events easier.
Can I take my friends from outside 21 Not Out to events?
Most of the time, we ask that your friends sign up to 21 Not Out before joining us at an event, due to our safeguarding policies.
Some of our events, however, are specifically created for you to bring friends along from outside 21 Not Out, such as our Softball Smash where you bring along a friend who has never played cricket before.
As always, if you are unsure, you can check with the person running the event, or pass your query on to Fran.
As a member, can I attend any event?
Most events are open to all members, and there is no limit to how many events you can attend. Occasionally, we may run an event for a specific age group, for example, an over 18 Pub Crawl, or an Under 18 Game Day.
If there is an age restraint, this will be made very clear to all Members, and we ask that you please respect the requirements of that event for safeguarding and practical reasons.
If I would like to host an event, how can I do that?
If you would like to host an event, the best place to start is on the chat. You can suggest your idea, and ask others for input or availability, for example.
If you are worried about making a suggestion on the chat, you can message another member who will be able to support you. Fran is always available to support you in planning and hosting events, and there are also many others who would be happy to help.
My best advice when planning an event would be for you to message another 21 Not Out Member who you know, and work on it together, or message Fran!
Where can I make a suggestion for an event without actually planning it myself?
In the Members’ area of our website, we have the Event Pitch where you can make a suggestion, or you can simply text on the chat. My best advice is that if you are planning a simple event on short notice, use the chat, and if you are looking for a place to put bigger events or multiple ideas, use the Ideas Pitch.
